We were talking to Max on the way home from church and he was going on and on about his "New Nursery" (that's what it's always referred to). During part of the conversation he goes, "I couldn't get my booger out in my new nursery and they helped me and couldn't get my booger out too!" I wish I could observe him in those situations and see and hear how he interacts when I'm not around.
Also, as I was washing my face tonight, I noticed my first wrinkles. Right around my smile. I presented them to Jason and he said, "Yeah, and under your eyes, too...you probably just haven't noticed them as wrinkles yet..."
What?!?
It reminds me of a few years ago when I looked in the car mirror (which always makes facial imperfections more apparent) and noticed (and I hate to admit this) darkish fuzz above my lip.
"Jason, did you notice I was growing a mustache?"
"Yeah"
"WHAT?!?!?! You have to tell me these things! A girl's got an image to keep!"
"It's hardly noticable..."
Needless to say, it was quickly removed. Any recommendations for facial cream?
What have we been up to lately...
-Found the library...didn't have the necessary proof of address for the card...that's always tricky when you're moving so much. I still had a Utah driver's license until last year. They had a nice little children's section and we're looking forward to going back.
-Last weekend, we found "The Book Barn"-- the biggest used and hard to find bookstore ever. I guess it's sort of a tourist attraction in the summer and one of those places that prides itself on being a little run down...you know the type...they usually have cats walking around everywhere. They have 6 buildings, none heated, full of used books...pretty cool. I went searching for Betsy, Tacy, and Tib but they didn't have any. I did find a few others though.
-Started playgroup!!! Come to find out, my new friend Bethany was in charge of setting up the playgroup in our ward. I hope I didn't make her feel too bad when I asked her whether or not one existed. Anyway...it worked and now we're working on getting others to come.
-I've been doing a few small projects for my children's rooms. Mostly Evelyn's...since she didn't have anything really. This week, I made growth charts for them both and I think they turned out really cute. I'll post pictures once they're hung. I'd post pictures of Evelyn's room but it's not quite put together enough. Our boxes of books are currently being stored in there until we get our bookshelves, but I've done some fun things that I'm excited to share!
-Max is getting really good at expressing his feelings and using "I" statements (as they're called in psychology), and it's really pretty cheesy but adorable and seems to help cut down on tantrums...some days. He'll say something like, "It makes me cry when I only get one cookie." To which I reply, "but Max, you've eaten, like, half the bowl of cookie dough." And he says, "My tummy really wants one more cookie...ppplease" (very Roger Rabbit sounding...but lots cuter.) The other day he even told me that I hurt his feelings...just like that..."Mommy, you hurt my feelings." I don't remember why. Probably because I made him sit in time out for squashing Evelyn or something. We are continually amazed at his communication. He's a very interesting boy as my Grandma Della would say (which doesn't sound so much like a compliment but is meant as one).
-Evelyn is getting interested in toys. She'll play with little things for a little while. Max didn't really like toys until he was lots older, so it seems different. It's fun to notice their differences and similarities. She really wants to sit up and is always trying to pull herself up if she's in a reclining position. I saw one of those Bumbo seats at a consignment shop yesterday for $15 and have been kicking myself ever since because I didn't get it. It was in really good shape and they're almost $50 regularly. I'm hoping it will still be there tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me. Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it? By the time I see your reply, I'll hopefully have it, but I'd still like to know your opinion.

Hey! Thanks for adding me. I had no idea you were going private. This was a really fun post to read,I love to hear about the funny things kids do, and I would love to see the growth charts. I've been working on getting my kids rooms a bit more cute, too.
hahaha...I love your conversations with Jason. I have had to ask Josh a few times, "You would tell me if I was leaving the house in an embarrassing state, riiiight?" Although I probably wouldn't change if he said I was but I still need to know what he thinks so I will understand why people are staring at me in the store.
I have a Bumbo and it was one of the few things I didn't get rid of before moving if that helps any. I really like it! It was perfect to sit Carter up in because he never liked to be just laying down...he liked to be up looking at all the action and participating. I also used it to sit him on the counter while I cooked or to feed him (of course I was close by) because yes they can fall out...although it is extremely difficult for them to get out of the chair...just kind of sucks them in. 15.00 is a fantastic deal and I hope it is still there when you go back!
Max sounds like quite the
verbal-lator. We are working on Carter's enunciation because he gets lazy and will just jumble everything together because he is talking so fast! I like the things Max says...he is a funny kid!
I also like your long(er) post...it is good to hear what you are up to!
oh...and if the Bumbo isn't there I will send you mine if you really want one...it will probably cost that much to ship so it will be the same difference...then when I need it back I will pay you to ship it to me:)
I like my Bumbo...but Brooke will only sit in it if she's "in the mood". But I think it will be nice for when she's a bit bigger and more interested in toys and stuff. I'm glad you guys are enjoying life out there! And your kids are darling!! Love you.
Bumbo for 15 bucks? Good thing you got it, or I would have come over there and kicked you too. And consider yourself blessed to not notice wrinkles til now. I've had wrinkles for years now! So sad. My smile lines are crazy big and too much, and then there's my scowl line..and then my beard is coming in fuller all the time. Man I'm hot.
It sounds like you guys are settling in well. Yay for playgroups! I miss going to ours :( Work is much more boring!
I'm glad to know that my husband isn't the only spouse who won't tell his wife about the embarrassing things happening to her face. I keep telling him that I'd really rather hear about facial hair or a zit from him than go out in public unaware! That's the nice thing about having a 5-year-old. They don't hold anything back!
Hahaha! That is funny about your face! Um, the sounds bad, let me reword that...the coversation was funny! Ha.
I have noticed in the last couple of years how my skin just sucks and that also have a light little stache going on...I am too scared to wax it though because I am afraid it will grown back dark and I will have to get it down all the time!
