For those of you seeing this for the first time: My wonderfully imaginative friend Laura decided to start a "My Favorite Things" contest a few weeks ago. She made a list of some of her most recent favorite things and then people visiting her blog could comment on something from her list. After a week, all of the names of those who commented were put together and one was drawn randomly. That person won the favorite thing she commented on. Julie Hunt won Laura's and then I won Julie's. Now it's your chance to win!
1. Victoria's Secret Balmy Nights Lip Balm
This is a hard one to find but I absolutely love this stuff! I'm picky about my lip balm- as I'm sure all of you are. It's a very personal preference. These are the reasons this particular lip balm is one of my favorite things:
-Peppermint scent with the slightest minty tingle
-Consistency- thick, but not too thick and just the right slipperiness
-Absolutely colorless
-Lasts forever
-Lasts forever
2. Method Cleaning Products
"People against Dirty" is their slogan- and that's totally me. These are hip, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly cleaning products. For "My Favorite Things," I'm going to choose the hand soap because that's what I use the most. I love the simple, sleek teardrop shape of their bottles. I have also used the wall plug-ins, dish soap, and shower cleaners…I've loved them all. They have wonderful scents, are safe to use, and they work really, really well. They are also very affordable.
3. Baking Soda
I surprised myself with choosing this as one of my favorites but I just don't think it gets the credit it deserves. I couldn't make cookies without it, it makes an explosive science project, it will cure a bug bite, and most recently performed the daunting task of turning all of my black jewelry silver again. I will be forever grateful. (I will also laugh all the way to the post office if I end up mailing this to someone!)
I discovered these about 3 years ago and have worn one everyday since then. They are the ultimate solution to wardrobe malfunctions. I like the cap sleeve as an undershirt and I actually wear the baby tee as a shirt in the hottest of summers. I've recently discovered the body suit and love it. It seems weird, yes, but is perfect under dresses when you need that coverage but don't want yet another seam bunching around your middle. No one needs that extra bulk. The body suits eliminate the undershirt line and smooths down everything else.
5. Pilates
I love Pilates. It's relaxing but takes endurance and helps to shape long, lean muscles and strengthen your core.
6. Breyer's Ice Cream
This is a family favorite. We love ice cream and this is our #1 choice. They haven't disappointed us yet. The ingredients are fresh and natural, the mix-ins are plentiful and well distributed, and we can usually find it on sale.
7. Netflix
Nothing beats the queue- choosing movies way ahead of time. That way, when I hear of one I want to see, I can immediately update my queue and then I won't forget about it. This is so convenient, much cheaper than a rental store, and the options are endless. The "watch it now" option is also fun. If you haven't tried Netflix and you like watching movies, I highly recommend it.

yay!!! I was so excited to get to read your favorites. I love them all...except maybe the ice cream (I am just not into it...I buy a container and it sits in my freezer for about year before I throw it out...I am weird I know...but have a zillion other sweet treats that get me in trouble so at least that is one less)
I have a box of the good 'ol baking soda in the fridge. It is my friend to soak up any odor so that I may avoid any embarrassment or passing out when opening the fridge...thank you baking soda.
So...if I win I would absolutely love to try any of your favorites...method, lip balm, Pilates, Shade....they all sound wonderful.
I subscribe to Netflix and thoroughly enjoy it!

Since I won already, don't put my name in..but I love baking soda too..it also is an oder eliminator.. it' can't go wrong! I need to do Pilates, I don't have it, but I love it..and it's hard. I really want method too..because I'm also into that kind of thing. And I actually haven't done Netflix yet.. so basically, I love everything on your list. I can't wait til you come! Hooray for me!

Ok, I'll play, then if I win it'll atleast save you the cost of shipping...I would love to try the method soap or the lip gloss. I'm not a huge ice cream fan, I do "flix" and have tried pilates, I love baking soda it's also great as a paste to clean rust off a stainless steel sink, and you know I love the shade shirts.
Oooo, they all sound lovely. I use and love Method's laundry detergent and fabric softener, but I've never tried the hand soap!

Wow...you have great taste Carrie! I just ordered 3 shirts from Shades...YAY! The baking soda I love, for everything! Victoria's Secret lipglosses...wonderful and addicting. We have had Netflix for a couple of years and wonder what we would do without it. We would be broke with tons of late fees probably!
I don't know why I'm even trying this still. The only thing I've won was a goldfish in 2nd grade, and when they handed me the bag the fish was mysteriously floating ontop of the water. Very dead. Anyway, I figure if you chalk me down for the baking soda and I win, it can't die... wait, I guess lip gloss can't either..
Thanks for diturbing my dreams! This post was the last thing I read before going to bed last night, so the ENTIRE night I was having a dream that I was shopping in this gross little town store for the Method Cleaning products, and I was in my bathrobe I stole from my dad back in high school and so embaressed the whole time that I couldn't pick out the bottle I wanted. How weird. Seriously though, if I'm always looking for good cleaning products, so I would choose that, or the lip gloss.
You do have great taste, Carrie! I'm all over Shade shirts. I started wearing them when I was pregnant since they were so comfy, and they're still some of my favorite shirts!

I love the favorite things idea. Totally fun! I am ordering Shade t-shirts as soon as I am done with the blog. Thanks for suggesting baking powder to clean the black off your jewelery. I have a sink that I accidently tarnished. I will use baking powder. Lance got me Victoria Secret lip gloss for Christmas. Very sexy. I, too, love it! We have unlimited rentals at Hollywood which is perfect for the no late fees. Good thing, we're so busy it usually takes us 2 weeks to watch a movie.
