April Showers

So, call me slow, but I just realized that I needed to compress my pictures before loading them onto Blogger and saved about 5 minutes of my life. Wonderful! I wanted to let all (2) of my faithful readers that we finished our hutch! I love it. It is bright and beautiful and makes me happy. Jason and I worked really hard on it and even used our 1 date night in the past 1 year to paint. It was very romantic. I decided on a paint called "Shadow Blue" and then the paper decision for the back was just out of control! I spent way too much time looking at paper on websites. Jason finally had to step in and just do it for me. I'm so grateful for him to force decisions upon me when I can't make them on my own (and I'm not being sarcastic). It's a red Japanese floral and I didn't realize paper could be so beautiful.

I really wish that I had a before picture now, but I don't. It was quite a transformation. It was really dark and extremely heavy looking. The windows had these criss-cross panes that obstucted all of the view. And the hardware was all different...old brass. So...I love it. I store my everyday dishes in it, which is taking a little getting used to, but made a lot more space for storage in our kitchen (food storage...oh, so daunting...). Now I'm really itching to paint our kitchen table. Charcoal?

And now...my precious children...

Max
(It's just "Max" these days. If I call him Maxon or Maxon Brad he says, "That's not my name...it's just Max." So there you go!)
(I tried telling him to put his chin down in pictures because he's really into the chin-up-underbite smile-squinty eyes for pictures...it's the only look I ever get. This is a little forced, but sweet.)

There it is!

He's the greatest!

Evelyn Sophia
Evelyn's into the deer-in-the-headlights look! Isn't she pretty? I love her bow...it was a gift. She has a brown one like it that just seems super big...so she doesn't wear it yet. I like big bows, but I do have my limits...

Eve is 6 months old now. She likes to sit up. She doesn't like to roll. She loves to dance (rocking back and forth vigorously when she hears any type of music). She loves her mom and is nursing at least every hour...and is getting very chubby. Max got really chubby at this age, too, and then started to slim down as his birthday approached. Evelyn is just beautiful--but I think she's teething or growing or doing something that's irritating her.

She and Max look so much alike.

There's a smile!
Max makes her laugh and she gets really excited when Jason comes home. She only wants to be held by me, though. All the time.
I think she says "dada" too. It's funny, because when Jason comes home for lunch and at the end of the day, Evelyn will make "dadadaadadadad" sounds. That's the only time she does it. What do you think?

Max and our cute new friend Mia at the aquarium. Mia is 19 months (or so) and lives right next door! So that's really fun...we've never really had a little friend next door. They are only here for sub school, though, so they will be leaving in June. But we'll have fun in the meantime. I love the name Mia.

I think Max likes the sting rays the best. He told me on the way to the aquarium that he didn't want to see the sharks and Evelyn didn't want to either. But then he ran right to them once we were there! We even caught a sea lion show at the theater that he really enjoyed.

Lucy, this one's for you!

Hi Carrie! I can't believe how big your little kiddos are getting, they are adorable! And you're right, they look a lot alike. Your hutch is gorgeous, I love the paper too. And your chair...WOW, what a transformation! Now you only have to tackle one more :) What are you going to do with the other one? I wish I had enough patience and knowledge for that!
