Evelyn's Birthday

We have had a great weekend celebrating the birthday of our sweet 3 year-old.  Her birthday is always on conference weekend so we have a lot of treats and a lot of lounging (which makes for lazy pajama pictures most of the time!).  Evelyn thinks "birthday" refers only to the cake and has a hard time understanding the rest of it for some reason.  Since July (Maxon's birthday) she has been talking about having a Mickey Mouse birthday.  She liked eating the ears.

Highlights from Evelyn's 3rd birthday:

On Friday, Evelyn had her ears pierced.  I don't know how it happened, it's definitely not something we had planned out.  I never thought 3 was going to be the age of earrings.  I don't wear earrings much but when I do she notices and wants them too.  So we just did it!  She was brave.  She sat in the chair patiently for a very long time while the piercing girl and I debated about placement.  (She wanted to accommodate for future piercings.  I wanted to make future piercings impossible.)  Evelyn didn't cry at all.  She looked pretty distressed once the burn set in, but handled it very well.  She now talks about them "cutting" her ear.  Her earrings look cute: little gold hearts with a pink birthstone.  She does not want me to clean them so I do it when she's asleep.

Evelyn loves her ballerina outfit and does cute little not-so-graceful twirls when she wears it.  She chose some of her own (pink) Legos with birthday money from Grandma and Grandpa Lloyd.  Max can't play with them.

Evelyn got a mini Primary Songbook because she loves to sing and she has been using her little Book of Mormon as a songbook in church.

We also have a new baby in our home.  Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Cleve sent Bitty Baby and she coudln't be more loved.  She has tummy time with Jude, rides in the shopping cart and car seat with Evie, sits in the Bumbo, shares a "family bed" with Evelyn (so she can nurse her through the night), and nurses all day long at the same time as Jude.  Evelyn has become a very sweet little mother and is much kinder to Jude now that she has a baby to call her own.
