Christmas in South Carolina

We are back from our Christmas vacation and have finally found the time to post some of our stories and pictures! Since we were going to be in Idaho for Christmas, we decided to do our own family celebration before we left. December 18th was the best day for us so we started celebrating early and didn't stop for more than 2 weeks! For dinner, I made pot roast with apples, onions, and butternut squash served over couscous. We ate on our china by candlelight while listening to Christmas music and it was very festive. After dinner, we opened our presents: a watch and remote control car for Jason, shoes and knitting looms for Carrie, a wheely bee, potty, and Color Wonder for Maxon...to name a few. We had heard of a certain Dove Street on Hilton Head Island where every single house is decked out with Christmas lights and decorations so we figured that would be an enjoyable way to wind down the evening. Surprisingly, we had never been to the Coligny area of the island so the whole area including the lights was a sight to behold. The beach homes are enormous and beautiful on narrow streets and Dove street had lights sweeping from home to home across the street. Maxon fell asleep on the drive home and it was a very wonderful early Christmas.


Maxon loves his wheely bee and I think it is the cutest little toy ever. He still doesn't quite know how to ride it on his own but he does like to pull it around and "boing" the anteneas. He also says "bye-bye bee".
